Prioritizing the Preservation of Black Legacies in Santa Barbara
On Thursday, February 17, 2022, Healing Justice Santa Barbara presented a virtual film screening, panel discussion, and Q&A to share with the community about the historical and cultural context of Black people in SantaBarbara.
For decades Local Black community members have been archiving important historical moments, artifacts and memories of Black History in Santa Barbara and recently Healing Justice SB has partnered with the city of Santa Barbara on the preservation of Black landmarks.
The development of the African American/Black Historic Context Statement has been financed in part with Federal funds from the National Park Service, Department of the Interior, through the California Office of Historic Preservation.
If you have information, photos, and any archived materials that are a part of Black history in Santa Barbara County, please reach out to Healing Justice Santa Barbara at HJSB.org.
